American Food and Drink
America is a land of pluralism and diversity. When people
from all over the world come to America, they brought their own dishes and
cooking traditions with them. It results in rich food diversity and a large
number of ethnic restaurants. Therefore, you can enjoy food from all over the
world, including Italian, German, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Australian,
African and Asian cuisines. There are food stores and restaurants where you can
taste foreign dishes in every city. For example, you can order tacos and
burritos, which are among the most popular Mexican food in America. Other
special meals include the Japanese sushi, the Italian lasagna, and the Mexican
Tex-Mex.
If you are found of doughnuts, you can buy them in most food
stores in the U.S. Do you know where doughnuts come from? Doughnuts were
originally from Holland, and in America, doughnuts have a hole in the middle. If
you love hamburgers, you can go to a fast-food restaurant and order your food
even from your home or car.
Eating out is an American tradition. In fact, Americans are
fond of eating out and try ethnic dishes. Restaurants serve you with a lot of
food on your plate, and if you can’t finish it, you can take it home in a
“doggy bag”. Thus, when you eat out, you don’t expect to be hungry afterwards.
You can eat delicious meals without spending much time cooking and shopping for
ingredients in America.
In addition to fast-food restaurants, there are also many
convenience stores, where you can buy snacks and some food for breakfast, lunch
or dinner. Some of them are open early in the morning. Snack and convenience
foods are popular among busy students and workers with a hectic schedule.
Traditionally, it was customary for Americans to eat a full
breakfast of toast, eggs and bacon, with coffee or tea or orange juice.
However, Americans nowadays like to eat light food due to their busy daily routines.
However, on weekends, they do not rush to work and school. So, they can enjoy
their brunch together at home. It is a large late breakfast or early lunch.
Some friends may come over and eat together on weekend mornings.
